Professor David Simchi-Levi of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology is considered one of the thought leaders in supply chain management. Dr. Simchi-Levi has been the principal investigator for more than five million dollars in funded academic research. He is the editor-in-chief of Operations Research, the flagship journal of Informs, the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences.
In 2008-2009 a joint research team consisting of Mohit Pury from MIT and lead researcher of TruEconomy Consulting, Dr. Costas Vassiliadis, he conducted an extensive web based literature review followed by a survey of more than 110 executives. The research developed insight into not only the key trends, challenges and opportunities for European supply chains but also the differences and similarities between European and American supply chains.
Simchi-Levi is also co-author of several books: ‘Designing & Managing the Supply Chain’ (2003-2007), The logic of logistics (2004), the ‘Handbook of Quantitative Supply Chain Analysis’ (2004) and ‘Managing the Supply Chain’ (2003).
