André Veneman joined AkzoNobel in January 1999 as Corporate Health Director and was appointed Corporate Director Sustainability in 2008. Veneman graduated as a Medical Doctor in 1983. From 1983 – 1988 onward he worked with UNHCR as a Medical Coordinator in Emergency and Refugee Situations. In 1989 he joined Shell International as an adviser in Occupational Health Management and Preventive Health Programs. He is representing AkzoNobel on international organizations such as World Business Council for Sustainable Development, UN Global Compact and World Resources Institute. In the Netherlands he is chairman of the IDH Advisory Board (Initiative Sustainable Trade) and member of the Advisory Board for the Amsterdam Climate Initiative.
